HIV/AIDS Advocacy

HIV Ribbon

HIV/AIDS Advocacy aims for universal access to HIV prevention, care and treatment to finally end the spread of HIV — and put behind us the 30+ year tragedy of HIV/AIDS. Since the passage of the Ryan White Care Act (1990) and enactment of the AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP), the US Government has made commitments to provide treatment to all those affected by HIV/AIDS.

AIDS Advocacy

However, the Ryan White Program has never been fully funded, and the trend nationwide continues to be the slashing of HIV prevention funding. Public health advocates keep pressure on elected officials, bureaucrats and HIV pharmaceutical/health care companies to make sure they follow through with commitments made to those affected by and at risk for HIV/AIDS.

HIV/AIDS Awareness

HIV awareness is highly critical for two communities most affected by HIV/AIDS in America — gay men (MSM) and African-American women. In America, ~60% of new HIV infections occur within gay-male communities and HIV is the 4th leading cause of death for African America women 25-34 in America. HIV advocates fight to end these trends and improve the health and greater livelihoods of those most affect by and at risk for HIV/ AIDS.
